“Always, always, always believe in yourself.

…Because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie.” -Marilyn Monroe

This Marilyn Monroe quote recently showed up on my news feed and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

For a few weeks at the beginning of 2012, I thought long and hard about what this blog means to me and if I wanted to continue writing it. My life at the time had become a little more complicated than usual with not a lot of balance between work and personal life. It’s not that I no longer enjoyed writing, but rather I didn’t know if I had outgrown my blog with my changing priorities. I continued to write in my spare time (I’m sure some of you who have been following me for longer noticed that the pace of the entries started to slow down), trying to rekindle the passion that once drove me to queue posts at all sorts of ridiculous hours in the night.

It wasn’t until sometime between April and May that something inside me just clicked. I started to reread old entries, flip through the hundreds of folders of photos taken and blogged, and got a little nostalgic. There’s something about revisiting past adventures, rereading feelings captured during emotional experiences, and laughing at funny photo mishaps that made me realize why I wanted to start blogging in the first place. I love looking back on the memories; the good, bad, and ugly.

Thank you for all following along… If you told me 2 years ago that I would be snapping more photos than I did back then (and trust me, I used to be that friend who was never seen without a camera in hand), getting the opportunity to connect with amazing bloggers, and growing friendships with others who live miles and miles away, I might have chuckled in disbelief. But here I am loving this little corner of the internet more than ever and so thankful for how much this blog has helped me grow in ways that I never knew I could. I’m excited to have rekindled my love for blogging and can’t wait to see what’s in store for this little blog in the years to come!

The winds of annoyance and discouragement blows on my sometimes too when I think of my blog. But you’re right, I look at old archives and remember the friends I’ve made and also how my style is growing and it keeps me gowing! Nice to have found your blog :)

    I’m proud of you.

  • I’m so glad you found the passion again! I think this disconnect from our blogs is something that comes up every once in a while – especially during times of transition, evolution and change. I can totally relate but am so happy that you decided to stick around. I would have had to really put the pressure on Seattle to hire me had you not :)

  • i’m glad you re-love blogging!
i went through a few weird slumps where i just
didn’t feel as motivated, but now i love it even
more. i think sometimes we just need to feel
inspired again and be reminded about why we
    started in the first place.
