VFW Day 1: Theresa Chen and Gert-Johan Coetzee

I’m super excited to start recapping Vancouver Fashion Week 2012! Although I wasn’t able to attend the shows in person, I’m one of the official bloggers and was given access to amazing photo coverage of the shows. Two of my favourites from the day one included Theresa Chen and Gert-Johan Coetzee.

Theresa Chen was one of the handful of Canadian designers showcasing her season’s collection at VFW 2012. She produced an easy-to-wear mixed collection for both men and women. What I love about her collection are the little details, everything from the buttons to the piping, that make each piece look so well thought out. I mean, how cute is the halter pant suit with the lace trim?

Gert-Johan Coetzee chose a really interesting colour palette for his collection: neon green, pale grey, and black. Using a combination of interesting fabrics, structured design, and a variety of silhouettes, Coetzee’s collection really shows how a simple palette can be stretched to great lengths.

What do you guys think of these collections?
