Getting tough with Hello Kitty

by thedemuremuse on January 11, 2013

I’m pretty excited to get back in the swing of things here in Seattle. After taking a couple weeks off to visit family and friends back in Toronto, I’m slowly getting settled in to my usual routine of weekly loads of laundry (fun!), cooking for one (sometimes two when I’m lucky enough to have someone to ramble about my day to), and rearranging all the photos and cards on my fridge to make room for new ones from 2012.

_MG_1731a Just before leaving for Toronto, one of my closest friends (aka Tiny Tourist) came to visit and we had a little too much fun in the clearance aisles of Target. It only took 10 minutes of going through the racks before we regretted our decision to optimistically shop with a basket instead of a cart. Of the mountain of clothes in the basket, I kept this Hello Kitty leatherette skirt (on clearance for $9.84 from $29.99!) and a polka dot dress. I couldn’t wait to get back to the milder-than-Toronto weather to have an excuse to wear this out in January.

outfit details:
lace top & belt: Forever 21
skirt & shoes: Target
houndstooth tights: Gap
scarf: ModCloth
Hello Kitty bow clutch: boutique
glasses: Versace model 1196
watch: Anne Klein (exact)

_MG_1733a My absolute favourite thing about this skirt is the fact that the Hello Kitty embossing on the fabric is so subtle. I could probably get away with wearing this out (sans the clutch) without too many people knowing how big of a Hello Kitty fan I really am. ;)

I love this outfit, it’s so gorgeous. Plus I absolutely adore the hello kitty clutch, I might have to see if I can find one myself.

I saw that skirt at Target and totally thought of you!! Hahah i love it because it’s not so IN YO FACE with the Hello Kitty :)

I’ve been trying SO HARD to not buy everything Hello Kitty these days. The fact that the skirt is not very IN YO FACE is exactly why I let this one slide. Plus I couldn’t pass up such a good sale. (Gosh, Target clearance is a dangerous place for my wallet lol)

Thanks, Wini! I didn’t even know that this skirt existed until I saw it on the sales rack by chance. Thank goodness for the metallic tags!

I think the scarf completes this outfit! It ties the purse to the clothes, and it looks amazing against your dark hair!

Thanks so much Franziska! I’m hoping to get a solid red scarf in the future. I’m all for animal print, but I didn’t want the zebras to overshadow Hello Kitty!

    Ahhh!
First favorite outfit of the year.
That Hello Kitty clutch is killing me.

hehe thanks!! The clutch is pretty awesome. It also came with a beaded strap, but it looks pretty cheap so I always use it as a clutch instead of a sling bag.
