It’s not often that I venture out of Seattle since the lack of a car makes it a bit difficult to get around to the further neighbourhoods. I’m always grateful whenever friends with cars make plans to check out other parts of the town because that means we get to explore as a bigger group. Thankfully we share a love for food so the majority of our plans have something to do with hunting down delicious eats. This time, we headed to the Fremont Sunday Market because the food trucks are always out when the weather’s nice (sunshine is a rare thing to find these days)!

outfit details:
polka dot dress: Target (exact on clearance for $8)
houndstooth tights: American Eagle
suede boots: Rocketdog
purse: Korean boutique
faux-leather jacket: Wet Seal
panda scarf: Forever 21 Before we talk about the Fremont Market, can I say something really quickly about this jacket? I don’t normally shop at Wet Seal because, well, I’ve long outgrown the age of acceptably being able to set foot in that shop without being side-eyed. I couldn’t help by stop in when I saw a bunch of cute striped sweaters with anchors (biggest weakness other than skull prints are anchors!) on display in the shop window. Sadly, sequined anchor sweaters for $30 is not my thing, but I did manage to find this amazing mint-coloured faux leather jacket in the clearance section for $11. Judge me all you want… this jacket is totally worth the side-eye. haha :P

The Fremont Sunday Market was awesome! This was my first time going and apparently we were lucky to have gone this week and not 2 weeks ago when it was pouring rain and only half the amount of vendors set up shop. There were a bunch of amazing vendors selling handmade goods, anywhere from cozy wool socks to custom dining wear to jewelry. There was also a section of the market dedicated to vintage goods, where my friends sorted through world maps from the 1930s/1940s and debated over which ones were the coolest of the batch.

Of course, we’re all about the food and bought sampler platters of most things so we could share. I went for the arepas (bonus find: recipe for how to make these), which are Venezuelan corn cakes stuffed with some sort of protein. In this sampler, there’s baked pork, shredded pork with cheddar, and chicken with avocado mayo:
Having never tried arepas before, I was really impressed with how well the corn cakes soaked in the flavours from the filling without getting soggy.

The market is open every Sunday year round so I’m hoping to go back in the summer and fall!
