The day started off with some organic Ciabatta bread (yay for Trader Joe’s!), scrambled eggs, bacon, stuffed tomatoes, and a glass of orange juice. Yes, I am a firm believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
We hit the road pretty early and made our way to the Science Fiction museum in downtown Seattle. If someone told me 5 years ago that I would be going to visit a Sci Fi museum, I think I may have laughed and said something along the lines of, “I’m not going to nerd hub central!!” Surprisingly, I kinda like to nerd out every now and then.
I was so excited to see costumes from the original Star Trek tv shows. There were also scripts, random props (woo phasers!) and lots of behind-the-scene facts that I never knew.
I couldn’t help but get super excited to see the Star Wars collections! I’m not a huge of Star Wars… to be honest, I think I’ve only ever seen one of the movies. All of my friends are huge Trekkies and Star Wars fans, so I couldn’t help but take a photo of this Stormtrooper!
The Sci Fi museum is connected to the Experience Music Exhibit, so we headed there next. My favourite exhibits were the ones that let people mix music. In the Jimi Hendrix section, there was a mixer with a bunch of JH songs where each part of the music (vocals, bass, lead guitar, etc) were split onto separate tracks and you could play around with a sound board to see how the final track was mixed.
A few hours of geeking out and mixing music made for a group of very hungry people. We headed over to McDonald’s (aka my all-time favourite junk food joint) and gorged on some fast food.
I was really impressed to see that there was a McCafé in this McDonald’s! It’s been so long since I’ve seen a McDonald’s that served specialty drinks and premium ice cream (The last time I saw one was about seven years ago, and the specialty menu didn’t last more than 3 months). Without hesitation, I dashed to check out the ice cream flavours after my super-healthy lunch. I figured I might as well indulge if I was already inhaling burgers. hahaha
Being the huge ice cream fiend that I am, I couldn’t help but add an extra scoop to my cone. I got a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough and mint chocolate chip. It was soooooooo good!! …Except for the fact that there was glue on my waffle cone! I tried really hard to pick it off, but that just didn’t happen. I don’t understand why McD’s felt the need to glue the paper to the cone. Or better question: why did they feel the need to use such a generous amount of glue?
Ok, I realize that it’s Wednesday and I’m still recapping my weekend. Lots of photos to transfer/edit so please bear with me!0
